THE BEGINNING OF WISDOM looks at the Book of Genesis through the contemporary lenses of science, literary theory, and other disciplines, to provide a basis for understanding where Judeo-Christian thought comes from. Kass, chairman of the President`s Committee on Bioethics and a professor at the University of Chicago, addresses the various chapters and verses with an interdisciplinarian`s eye to asking questions and letting the answers come to the reader, with the ultimate goal of understanding what Genesis really addresses and why.
